About Yeshivat Har Etzion

Yeshivat Har Etzion, founded in 1968 in Gush Etzion, has become one of Israel’s outstanding institutions of learning, inculcating in its students intellectual excellence, spiritual growth and national commitment. For over four decades, the Yeshiva was headed by two of the most outstanding scholars and community leaders of our time - Rabbi Yehuda Amital zt”l and Rabbi Dr. Aharon Lichtenstein zt”l. Merging the best in traditional Jewish learning with a formidable grasp of the modern world, the Yeshiva’s aim is not to cloister but to communicate, to educate a new generation of teachers and leaders.Three distinguished alumni of the Yeshiva, in 2006 Rabbi Yaakov Medan and Rabbi Baruch Gigi and in 2008 Rabbi Mosheh Lichtenstein, were appointed as additional Roshei Yeshiva, ensuring the stability and vision of the Yeshiva as it transitions to a new generation of leadership.

Yeshivat Har Etzion Yeshivat Har Etzion includes one of the largest Hesder programs in Israel, combining advanced Talmud studies and military service, as well as a Kollel for students preparing for careers in the rabbinate and education. The Yeshiva's current enrollment of 450 students includes 121
overseas students from all corners of the Diaspora.
In 1997, the Stella K. Abraham Beit Midrash for Women of Yeshivat Har Etzion was established under the leadership of Mrs. Esti Rozenberg, offering young women the opportunity to incorporate intensive Torah learning with national service (Sherut Leumi/IDF) and professional educational training. The Beit Midrash now has 121 students, including 35 from overseas who are completely integrated into the intellectual and spiritual life of the Beit Midrash.

The Israel Koschitzky Virtual Beit Midrash (www.vbm-torah.org) provides weekly shiurim in Tanach, Talmud, Halacha and Philosophy to 18,000 subscribers worldwide, opening a window into the Beit Midrash. Together with the KMTT daily Torah podcasts (Ki Mitzion Tetze Torah) and numerous publications, the Yeshiva's Torah and message is received by thousands of people throughout the world.
Herzog College, founded 38 years ago, an affiliate of Yeshivat Har Etzion, is the largest teachers' training college for the religious Zionist community in Israel with nearly 2,000 students, both men and women in separate programs. It is renowned for its high-level pedagogical and continuing education programs in Tanach, Talmud, Halacha, Jewish Philosophy, Hebrew Language, Hebrew Literature and Land of Israel Studies. Faculty members of the College develop curricula and educational materials for the classroom and lecture throughout the country.
